The Heart Behind VetBrain
Veterinary medicine is full of long nights, tough decisions, and life-changing moments. But what often wears vets down isn’t the medicine — it’s the paperwork. Hours spent documenting instead of healing.
We built VetBrain to change that. Not just as a tool, but as a promise: that every vet deserves more time with patients, more energy for care, and fewer battles with software. Because at the heart of every clinic is a mission that goes beyond data and screens — it’s about saving lives.
Every minute matters
We started VetBrain because we believe veterinarians shouldn't have to choose between complete documentation and patient care. In emergency medicine, minutes save lives. Yet clinicians spend 60% of their day on administrative tasks.
This isn't just about efficiency. It's about human cost. Burnout. Missed diagnoses. The gut-wrenching feeling of knowing you could have spent more time with a patient if you weren't drowning in paperwork.
We saw brilliant, compassionate veterinarians leaving the profession they loved because the administrative burden was crushing their spirit. That had to change.
VetBrain gave me something I thought I'd lost forever: the ability to be fully present with my patients. I'm not thinking about the documentation waiting for me. The AI handles it, and I can just... care.
AI as a partner, not a replacement
How we think about artificial intelligence in life-or-death situations
Here's what we believe: AI should amplify human judgment, never replace it.
In veterinary medicine, there's too much at stake for "black box" AI. Our approach is different. We build AI that:
Explains its reasoning
When VetBrain suggests a differential diagnosis, it shows you why. The clinical signs, the breed predispositions, the case history patterns. You're always in control.
Learns from your expertise
The AI adapts to your clinical style. If you consistently treat feline diabetes differently, it learns. Your expertise shapes the tool, not the other way around.
Stays invisible when you don't need it
For routine cases, VetBrain fades into the background — auto-completing templates, pre-filling data. But it's ready to help the moment things get complex.
Protects patient privacy
Every piece of patient data is encrypted. Our AI trains on anonymized patterns, never on individual cases. GDPR and HIPAA compliance isn't a feature — it's a foundation.
We're not building AI to make veterinarians obsolete. We're building it to make them unstoppable.
From midnight epiphany to real impact
We're still early. VetBrain is in active development, built in partnership with veterinary clinics across Europe and the United States. Every feature is shaped by real veterinarians, in real workflows, solving real problems.
Our beta testers aren't just users — they're co-creators. They tell us what works, what doesn't, and what their teams need most. Some of our best features came from a 2 AM Slack message from an exhausted vet.
I've seen a lot of veterinary software come and go. VetBrain is different because they actually listen. They're not selling me a solution — they're building it with me.
Real vets, real results
The moments that remind us why we do this work
The emergency case that couldn't wait
A golden retriever came in with acute respiratory distress at 11 PM. Dr. Chen used VetBrain's AI to instantly pull up similar cases from her clinic's history, identify the pattern, and make a diagnosis in under two minutes. The dog lived. Before VetBrain, pulling those records would have taken 20 minutes — time this patient didn't have.
The practice that got their evenings back
A small clinic in rural Spain was drowning in after-hours documentation. Vets were staying until 9 PM to finish notes. With VetBrain's AI-assisted SOAP templates and auto-generated summaries, they cut documentation time in half. Now the team leaves by 6:30 PM. Every single day.
The referral that almost got lost
A complex feline diabetes case needed a specialist consult. Before VetBrain, compiling months of records for the referral meant hours of copy-pasting across systems. With VetBrain, Dr. Rodriguez generated a complete, structured case summary in 90 seconds. The specialist called back impressed: 'This is the best-organized referral I've ever received.'
The diagnosis hiding in plain sight
A dog with chronic vomiting had been treated symptomatically for months. VetBrain's AI analyzed the complete case history and flagged a pattern the team had missed: timing aligned with a specific medication. They adjusted the protocol. The vomiting stopped. Sometimes AI sees what exhausted humans can't.
Built by people who care
We're a small, mission-driven team of engineers, veterinarians, and designers. Some of us have pets who survived because of great veterinary care. Some of us have lost pets because the system failed.
What unites us: the belief that technology should serve compassion, not complicate it.
We work out of offices in Bucharest and remotely across Europe. We pair-program with veterinarians. We've spent days shadowing in emergency clinics. We read clinical papers and attend veterinary conferences.
We're building VetBrain not because it's a "market opportunity," but because animals deserve better care, and veterinarians deserve better tools.
Want to join us?
We're looking for engineers, designers, and veterinary professionals who want to build something meaningful. If this story resonates with you, we'd love to hear from you.
careers@vetbrain.comA future where vets can focus
on what they do best: heal
We envision a world where veterinary software disappears into the background. Where documentation happens automatically. Where diagnostic insights appear exactly when needed. Where vets leave work on time, energized instead of exhausted.
This isn't science fiction. The AI technology exists today. What's been missing is someone willing to build it the right way — with veterinarians, for veterinarians, with patient care as the north star.
That's what we're doing. And we're just getting started.
